This item is a right handed antique vintage 38 1/2\" iron.Highly collectible patented Spalding Gold Medal 1 early perforated steel shaft Lard Whistler. Covered by several patents by Allan Lard. Has two patent dates on the back and one has the wrong year (should be 1915 and not 1914). See attached Patents.MarkedSpalding Gold Medal 1on the back.Lined groove scoring on the face.Mid Ironon the sole.Thehead is clean and not all rustedbut it does have the expected play nicks and dings and finish wear.Please look at the many zoom pictures as they should accurately represent the condition.The shaft is in good condition. It is not all rusted like some you see. There is no damage to the shaft.The grip is an oldlong apparently original leather wrap that is ingoodvintage condition. Jeff Ellis sold one of these at his Southeby\'s sale for $4375.
