Martial powder flask made for percussionpistol or longarm. The name “Batty” is widely known in flask history since his“Peace” flask product enjoyed the longest run of manufacture of this type offlask, covering 1847 to 1858. This flask shows the conventional tear shapedcopper body that bears a military motif design. Device measures 9 1/4” long and4” wide swell. Constructed of copper, flasks is equipped with a plain screw offflask top, brass collar, adjustable charger, thumb-piece cutter and loadingrim. Stampings visible on the top of flask show “BATTY/1849”. Seams are strongand show no evidence of splitting or repairs. Normal wear for an item this old.Hidden spring for cutting is missing ir broken.
