Locality:
d,

Permit me to get the location out of the way first: Frosterley, Weardale, North Pennies, Co. Durham, England. The Rogerley mine is famous for the fluorescence of its fluorite. One expert has said that pictures don\'t do justice to the colors of Rogersley fluorite fluorescence as monitors do not have the capability of showing that color.

The plate consists of densely packed fluorite crystals sitting on a nondescript matrix. Most of the crystal faces have a thin coating on them but it in no way impacts the fluorescence. This is common for fluorite from this location.

Pictures 1-2 were taken under shortwave ultraviolet light; 3-4 under longwave; 5-6 under midwave.

The various fluorescences are all attractive but slightly different in color. I have no preference but will point out that Rogerley SW fluorescence is the best that I\'ve seen under that wavelength.

As with any fluorescent mineral, the more powerful the illuminating lamp, the brighter the fluorescent response. It measures approximately 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches and it weighs 170 grams.
Shipping in the United States via first class mail is free. Please contact me for international charges. I am always happy to combine shipments to save shipping costs.

Please check outASD098LKJ and ROCKYC1945 for even more of my fluorescent listings. no longer permits sellers to combine shipping for purchases made from more than one buyer ID.

PLEASE READ

1. Owing to recent changes at , it is now necessary for me to ship purchases within one business day of receiving payment. I will often do it the same day if payment is made sufficiently early. Please, if you want to combine shipping with subsequent purchases, do not pay until I invoice you with the correct discounted combined shipping. Just let me know when you are ready for the invoice. If you pay, I have no choice but to ship.

2. International shipping is not cheap and PayPal adds to the problem by charging a higher percentage for international transactions. also charges a commission on the shipping paid for both international and domestic purchases. I charge you what it costs me - I do not profit from shipping. Once I mail or ship a package, the time in route is out of my control.

3. The more powerful the ultraviolet lamp, the brighter the fluorescent response. Flashlights and ultraviolet lamps that purport to provide shortwave and longwave lighting plus a flashlight [and maybe even a can opener] and cost $39.99 will not adequately fluoresce most minerals. Neither will very low wattage shortwave lamps. The filter is the most expensive component of a lamp and for that price it will not be a quality filter - it will either permit too much visible light to pass through or not enough ultraviolet light. Either way you lose.

4. Some items will only fluoresce under shortwave ultraviolet light. Others only under longwave. My listings will indicate which wavelengths permit fluorescence and which do not.

5. If you are not happy with an item, please contact me BEFORE leaving response, requesting an or PayPal refund or opening a buyer case. I will make it right.

Thank You,

john
