Used. Both volumes are basically acceptible. One rarely sees Grant\'s memoirs in this quality state - sheep\'s leather over the boards and in good condition, though I must note that the back board on volume one has been reattached to the volume (it can be seen in the 3rd to last pictue). There are also some some light wear and abrasions on each. Each pullout from each volume is included; General Buckner\'s dispatch in volume I and Lee\'s surrender in volume II. Grant was quite the military strategist but he was also a good writer. These are not boring books as are so many Civil War books but rather a smooth flowing history that is interesting to read!
