You are offerding on a gorgeous PETER HEESCHEN estate pipe in very good condition. Peter is a legend among the legendary Danish carvers and this small bamboo apple shows why. It has been a jewel in my collection and I treasure it above all others for its quaint beauty. If ever there was a pipe that achieved perfect compositional harmony then it\'s this little hand carved Heeschen. Trust me, the pictures don\'t do it justice.The head, stained beautiful ruby red, fits into the palm perfectly. The understated sandblasting is a perfect accompaniment to the shape, allowing crisp, well defined lines to merge with the elegance of bamboo. It is in the latter, a light two knuckle specimen, that the ingenuity of it\'s maker shines through. Notice the perfect division between the knuckles mirrored in the transition to the bowl and the mouthpiece flare. Viewed from the side, it would make the best Japanese carvers blush with envy. But that is not all. The top of the pipe is equally stunning, with a flared out bit (that makes it very comfortable to hold) and bamboo knot giving the perfect accent. The pipe sits like a little champ and its diminutive weight makes you forget you\'re clenching it!The overall condition of the pipe is very good and she has been smoked very sparingly over the years. The briar is in excellent condition with only the tiniest rim darkening. The original bit is in very good condition and has only the tiniest of tooth marks below the bit. The nomenclature is clear as the day it was stamped. The fit of the stem spot on!

The pipe hasbeen cleaned and sanitized and is ready to smoke from the get go. As a rule, Inever buff any of my pipes, particularly those intended for estate sales. I farprefer small tooth prints to thinned out bits or flattened buttons. Same goesfor bowls that lose corners and stamps under the wheel. Thus, while the pipe inthe photos might not have that glimmering shine, you can rest assured that it comesto you in the best original condition. And should you choose to buff ityourself you can be sure that the job is done the way you like.
