I have for sale a1880s French striking and repeating Petite sonneriecarriage clock made in France by the maker AD not sure who this guy is but thisis one of the best carriage clocks I have ever seen weights the same has ahouse brick. the case and movement fully restored a couple of years ago.

This clock has a rare feature having a switch top left at the rear toswitch from striking to alarm only this would normally be in the base so a raredesign I have never seen.

The case is in original solid shiny brass and stands 8” high x 4” widewith a depth of 4” it is in original condition with thick 5mm bevelled sides/front/back door and top viewing glass.

The case is very shinny and hard to photograph they do not do the clockjustice at all.

The case has the four heavy carved columns which are made in two partsand still retains the original numbered base plate and key.

The Dial

The dial is in mint original condition in white porcelain with Roman numerals; the clock also retains its original black spade hands.

The face has a mercury gilded picture frame which runs around the dial.

The Movement

The movement is an eight day time and strike which strikes the hours ,quarters and halves and three quarters via two blue steel gong\'s to the rearalso has the repeater button on top to repeat the last hour strike and a fullyfunctional alarm feature, the movement has been serviced and oiled so keepinggreat time over the eight days.

The movement has been fully restored ultra sonic cleaned new springsadded all hand polished and rebuilt, so this clock is in stunning condition butthis was done around two years ago including the platform I have just servicedthe clock it runs with out fault.

Overall a very beautiful quality carriage clock bya quality French maker that looks stunning on display and contains all of itsoriginal features this is quite a rare find these days.
