-The SS United States & The Aircraft Carrier USS Antietam-A fine and rare aerial of two very spectacular ships:After the Korean War in 1952 the USS Antietam moved to a New York Naval Shipyard to undergo major alterations after which she emerged as an attack aircraft carrier, redesignated CVA-36 and became the world’s first angled-deck aircraft carrier.
The SS United States had over 241,000 horsepower, and could do over 20 knots inreverse. Her top forward speed more than doubled that, and her BlueRiband records as the fastest east and westbound transatlantic runs still stand to this day.It\'s interesting to note the size comparison of the Innovative Super Liner more than holding her own against the mighty Antietam.
