The Elite 95s is a newer model released by Pilot a few years back but is based on the 1975 model of the Pilot Elite so there is history to the design. You may see it also referred to as the Pilot E95s which is how it’s marketed here in the US. The only difference is the E95s has a script “E” on the cap whereas the Elite 95s has “Elite” on the cap. The pen is a compact pen, more commonly known as a pocket pen. For those who aren’t familiar with pocket pens, they are small and compact when capped but extend to a full-size length when posted. The Kaweco Sport series of pens is probably the most well-known pocket pen and the Elite 95s is comparable in size and weight to the plastic-bodied Kaweco Classic Sport. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend putting it your pocket with your keys and change as I think it could mess the finish up, plus the clip itself could snag on your keys or pocket. If you do want to throw it in your pocket I recommend putting it in a sleeve of some sort. The cap on the Elite 95s slides over the body of the pen, similar to a snap-cap pen and even though it doesn’t snap into place it is very secure when capped and posted. There is some sort of tension mechanism on the inside of the cap that helps it stay in place and it does an excellent job. There isn’t a defined grip section on the Elite 95s, instead the body tapers slightly towards the nib so the pen is comfortable to hold regardless of where you grip your pens.

This Pilot Elite looks like the Falcon. It has a Resin body, round, with blunt, slightly tapered ends. The finial is comes in different colors such as black, red etc., matching the rest of the body. The grip section comes in black, and tapers towards the nib. As I said in my Falcon review, overall, the appearance of the pen is pretty classic, until you see the nib! The trim is gold and looks great against the Resin body. Available colors are Black/ Red.

Until PenSachi is finally made, it is a long journey to the West and the East of an amateur freelance writer with a passionate interest in handwriting. I fortunately inherited this interest from my grandfather who used to be a practitioner of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy which many of young Japanese nowadays might rarely now about.

I still kept the hobby of writing and collecting fountain pens even after I moved to the West for study in 2000. I found out how lucky I was to be in Japan as it was not that hard to get a fountain pen or brush pen for calligraphy compared to here in Europe. However, it was such a destiny as I could meet and become friends with those people who also share the same interest in writing instruments. It was somehow different in the way we think and practice calligraphy because of national identity but it then became more amazing as while sharing Japanese cultures I could also learn new things too.
As a business man: - Career and Dream and Passion
After graduation, I came back to Japan and worked for a company which actually has no relation to my hobby but it never stopped my interest in writing and calligraphy. If writing from a pen collector’s perspective is something of habit, joy and experience, for a business man, it is also about manner, career and dream. However, they have one thing in common - PASSION. As long as we have the same passion, we are all connected.
As a dreamer/ companion / sympathizer
I took a chance to visit many corners in Asia for volunteering during 2007-2010 and it was a truly great experience when I could see writing with a totally different view. Far to the Northwest of Vietnam, for many children in Mai Chau or Sa pa, owning a good pen can make them more than happy. Or for many elder-lies in remote villages of China, having a good brush pen to practice calligraphy becomes such a fancy wish of their whole life. It might be so easy for of us to have writing as a daily hobby but for many others it is a dream and it might bring us a joy but to many other it’s an absolute happiness.
