This blockof Pink-Ivoryhas all kinds of blemishes.But, there is a benefit to this. It has a large amount ofcolorcontrast throughout, and four tight knots (whichwill become brilliantdarkred after thisblankis worked).

It also has brilliant, curvingand meandering ribbon stripe figure (brilliant ribbon stripe figure with a lot of flash)on all 4 sides and parta crotch shows on the \"A\" side. There is blue-stain/spalting on one corner/edge. On the \"D\" side, the knot even looks as if it\'s throwing off sun-flares from a knot. This is a true wood and figure of this item is somewhat obscured by the coating of wax that it is sealed within, but believe it, beneaththe wax is a wild piece of Pink-Ivory. I think that this piece is only suitable as a turning project.

I have done nothing to enhance the color in the photos, and I have not taken any planing cuts to try to get beneath the existing surface in search of more color.

This piece has been kicking around for more than 20 years, so it is completely dried and seasoned, and has (typical for Pink Ivory)turned more pale that it was. Working it by uncovering the fresh wood underneath should restore much of its original color, hence contrast.
