I have been so blessed to travel/live inmany continents and countries(including Africa,Europe, North/South America and Asia) spending months in their museums & galleries studying and simply enjoying... What is Gold Vermeil?

The Gold Vermeil used at Moonsnail is Fine 970-999 Silver or 925 Sterling that has been heavily overlaid with 24k or 22k GOLD. I use the Finest Balinese, Thai and Karen Hill Tribe 2-3 microns Vermeil. The marriage of the two metals, because of chemical compatibility, makes for an extraordinary tactical and visual effect. It will take on a valued deep, rich patina with time or may be gently cleaned periodically to remain bright.

What is 970-999 Fine Sterling Silver?

This Sterling Silver is an exceptionally high grade (97-99.9% Pure Silver) – much higher and more valuable than even the finest quality 925 (92.5%) Sterling Silver! It is 45-74% purer than even 925. It is the Purest Sterling Silver used for Jewelry. I use only Pure 925-999 Silver Parts in my work. It wears beautifully for many generations.

What is 14k/20 Gold Filled?

14k/20 Gold Filled is Hundreds of Times Thicker than Gold Plated, (and more valuable by far), so it won\'t wear off over time. I use 14k/20 Gold Filled parts. This means that the top 5% is Solid 14 Karat Gold gold-pressure bonded. The result is the look and feel of Solid 14 Karat Gold with generations of wear. You get the look and feel of real gold of true heirloom quality.

What is Karen Hill Tribe?

The Karen Hill Tribe People have been settled in and farmed the lush green valleys of Northern Thailand (known as the Golden Triangle) for over 2000 years. They were originally a Nomadic Tribe and their origins remain shrouded in mystery and debate but are possibly Sino-Tibetan. Through their magnificently crafted, and now fairly traded, sterling silver the Karen Hill Tribe is retaining some of its rich and mystical tribal heritage and independence. These highly skilled artists’ silver craft is second to none. I am honored to be able to use Karen Hill Tribe fine 970-999 silver and the tradition it carries in my work.

Are Your Gemstones and Pearls Genuine and Natural?

Yes. We only use genuine, natural and most commonly untreated gemstones and pearls.

Care and Cleaning?

Regularly clean and polish gently with a fine, soft dry cloth, or occasionally rinse with untreated water and dry immediately. Silver, 14k Gold and 14K Gold-filled Pieces can be cleaned with very mild diluted soap and untreated water and dried with a soft clean cloth for rare heavier cleanings. Gold Vermeil should be cloth cleaned and gently taken care of for best wear.

Always keep precious metals and gems away from abrasion, treated water, salt, soap, perfume, oils and chemicals for its longest beauty and wear. Professional jewelry cleanings are a good and reasonable option every few years or as needed. They will also re-appraise your jewelry for you! You can purchase professional jewelry polishing cloths on or from your jeweler. These quickly and easily remove tarnish when used regularly.

Pearls & Opals need some humidity and to breathe. From time to time allow them to breathe and be in a moderately humid Environment. Opals can crack in overly dry Environments as well as overly hot or cold Environments, great care should be taken with them in this way. Pearls in an oxygen free Environment for too long can show signs of decay. Allow your pearls to breathe but protect them from dust, dirt and overly harsh temperatures.

All Precious Metals will remain tarnish free if they are sealed in an airtight container or bag. So long as the jewelry is not opal or pearl this can be used for fairly long periods of time as a good storage solution between wearing. If the jewelry contains opal or pearl I recommend allowing for some humidity and oxygen with regular gently cleanings as described above or professional cleanings by a certified jeweler.
