As you may recall, one day Robin Hood was walking through Sherwood Forest when he came to a log across a stream. At the same time a tall stranger was approaching the log from the other side of the stream. Robin called out to the stranger to let him pass first. The stranger refused. So the two men met at the middle of the log and had a fight with quarter staffs to see who would cross over the stream first. After a long struggle, the stranger knocked Robin into the stream. But instead of getting mad, Robin was impressed with the stranger\'s skill and invited him to join his band of Merry Men in Sherwood Forest, and they sat down to have lunch together. Then Robin blew his horn to call his men. When they arrived, at first they were angry with the stranger, but then welcomed him into their band. When asked his name, the stranger replied, \"John Little.\" As a joke, because the man was so tall and big, the Merry Men called him \"Little John.\"

This set has all the pieces to act out this story, even the quarter staffs and horn. The figure\'s feet grab onto two bumps on the log so they can stand on the log. My grandson loves to act out this story!
