Presenting: A “One of a kind” porcelain baby doll, entirely made by Emily Hart, including all porcelain parts & cloth body.

This little darling was painted in 1998, but, the head and hands were left in a drawer and never finished until February of 2016 when I put together the body, added her eyelashes and wig and dressed her.

This doll was made from the very popular “Sugar Britches” mold originally made by Boots Tyner.
Early in my career as a doll maker, I had a teaching studio and this was the most popular doll with my students… we used to call these kind of dolls “bean bag Babies” as they were the first dolls to be “weighted” with plastic pellets as this doll is also weighted.

I am going through all my drawers and pulling out all the dolls that are partly made in an effort to finish them and offer them for sale.

She is poured in Seeley’s “Lady White” porcelain with wonderful china painting in many layers with firings in between. You will find very few of this kind of doll poured in white porcelain as most of them started off with colored porcelain. White porcelain with skin-tone applied and fired on in china paints creates a doll with more depth and beauty.

I painted her lips in a beautiful color called “Whispering Rose” and painted her brows with “Copper” to compliment her auburn acrylic wig.

Her body is strong 100% cotton muslin and filled with a combination of polyester fibre-fill and plastic baby pellets.

I made her a little “under-blouse” in white cotton Dimity with lace edged long sleeves. Over this I added a beautiful hand-smocked and embroidered Preemie dress of cotton blend with organdy overlay and matching bonnet also embroidered. The dress and bonnet both feature tiny pearls sewn in.

She wears knitted tights with knitted booties tied with organza ribbons.
She measures 19 inches
