You are offerding on a SpanishCampaign Medal for the The Second Melillan Campaign of 1909. The medal is used and is in good conditionwith some signs of wear and darkening (patina) due to age. The ribbon is a replacement and is in a usedcondition and is slightly soiled. The medalis silver in color and bears the image of King Alfonso XIII on the obverse. The medal is dated “1909” on the reverse side.The Medal was instituted in 1910, and was awarded to Spanish soldiers for theirservice and sacrifice during the Second Melillan Campaign. The Second Melillancampaign commonly referred to as “Rif or Melilla War\" was a conflict in 1909 in Morocco aroundthe Melilla area. The fighting involved local Riffians and the Spanish Army as Spain attempt to expand it colonies in Africa.
