Premier 60’s Drum “Outfit” 3 piece Aquamarine Sparkle

The term “Vintage” is loosely used these days to describeolder items. This Kit is.

Up forSale is a Vintage Premier 3 piece Drum Kit. Based on the Badging and researching these drums, theyappear to match the 1964-65 “Outfit 54”.I included the 1965 catalog pic provided by vintagedrumguide.com, and specs available on the web assisted the ID.

The finish is the iconic signature for Premier, Aquamarine Sparkle. They are from the 60’s, pre-67 based onPre-International tom sizes.

I will describe each piece included and the generalcondition of them. As they are 50 years old, there is some general fading oneach drum. This is evident when comparing the vibrancy of the color to theareas under the rims.

SHELLS: The shells and reinforcement rings are in nice shape.Premier’s shells of this era are 3 ply Birch and the rings are German Beech. This is where much of the value lies, as wellas the lugs, rods, but mostly theirGREAT SOUND.

The Royal Ace Snare and the 2ndRoyal Ace Snare Shell that you see in the pictures is NOT INCUDED and was SOLD

Kick Drum 20”: The shell is in good shape as mentioned forall the drums. All original hardware intact. The wooden hoop rings had somepaint flakes and have been lightly sanded for flaking of the originalsilver/gray paint, and they are repainted for picture quality and they came outgood and are fully functional. The wrap has some minor fade and there is asmall separation on the top drivers side. See the specific picture included.The original kick legs are intact but showing chrome loss and were cleaned ofresidue.

As noted, all 16 Claw Art-Deco design tension rods arepresent and original. Parts shoppers are paying $20 each, do the math, $320just for the rods?

Side Tom 12”: This is a Pre-International Metric size tom.The drum is in solid shape. The Tom arm to mount to the bass has been sold, so you need to locate one. The damper is missing. Originaldie-cast hoops and slotted rods intact. You can find dampers for this tom on.

Floor Tom 16”: This is a Pre-International Metric size tom.The drum is in solid shape.The original 3 legs are included but they are in rough shape. The original die-cast rims and slotted rods areintact on this 20 lug tom tom. Floor legs need rubber. Spring assemblies inworking order.

To recap, thismatches a full 3 piece set of PremierOutfit 54 drums from the Mid-60’s in Aquamarine Sparkle. Thekit has never been restored, just cleaned up by me, played a bit.Theyare beingsold “as is” and theyhave been described as best as possible. If you are seeking “museum condition” drums, theseare not for you. If you are seeking an original “blast from the past” greatsounding Kit that is rare, these are foryou!
