This lot consists of a PAIR of Texas Governor license plates, an official photo portrait, and an authentic, personally signed autograph signature.These license plates were issued to Governor George Walker Bush in March 1999, and stamped with an embossed date which indicates the time of expiration, which was a year later in March 2000. Later that same year, Governor Bush was elected the 43rd President of the United States.

These plates are the real deal, as they come with the original mailing envelope. Please see all of the photos in this listing, and view the close-ups for detail.

The label on the envelope indicates that these plates were issued to a \"State Official\" in Travis County, (Austin). Curiously, the Governor is listed as \"Bush, George W. Jr.\", which was perhaps necessary, as his father, (who also resided in Texas at the time) was a former US President with a very similar name.

Since at least 1939, (and possibly earlier), the Governor of Texas received license plates with the number combination of \"S0\", (which stands for State Official), followed by the numeral 1. These plates came to me from a man who (at the time) had influential connections in the state capital of Austin.

I received these license plates along with a copy of Mr. Bush\'s official photograph portrait as Governor of Texas. This very glossy, high-quality photo measures 9.75 inches high by 7.75 inches wide. It is professionally mounted in a matte, and backed with 3/16\" thick foam core, ready for framing. The matte border is 2.5\" wide all around, so the total dimensions of the item is 14.75 inches high by 12.75 inches wide. The matte is nice and clean, but the corners are slightly dented - this may disappear when framed under glass, or else you may want to trim it.

This lot also includes a genuine autograph signature of George W. Bush:This autograph is on a separate piece of paper. It was obtained independent of the license plates, and in person, during a campaign appearance of Mr. Bush in Des Moines, Iowa in 2000.

I had initially planned to have all of these items professionally framed together into one, magnificent display piece, but then thought it best to allow the new owner to decide the precise layout and presentation.
