Primitive Antique SAD Clothes Pressing Iron From the 1800s:
$27.95
This heavy antique SAD pressing iron is being offered as found; only the surface dust was cleaned off. It is very old and appears to be a rare model as I searched and searched and could not find another like it with the handle curved completely around and bolted through both ends. A great addition to a collection, or just use it as a door stop!
Since listing, I have been informed by another er that this is a sand-cast iron and that the handle on this iron is a blacksmith\'s replacement for the original that broke off (see bumps in front and back of the \"new\" handle). Even so, I have not seen another with a repaired handle like this one. I guess each blacksmith had his own technique for replacing handles.Weighs about 4-3/4 pounds (shipping weight, 6 pounds).Approximate measurements: 5-3/4\" long, 4\" wide, 4\" high. The handle is 13/16\" wide (just over 3/4\") and 1/4\" thick. The base of the iron is 7/8\" thick. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an integral part of description.
