About the Illustrator:
John Wesley Dennis (1903–1966) was an American illustrator, known best for fifteen children\'s books about horses that he created in collaboration with writer Marguerite Henry. He illustrated over 150 books in his lifetime, including Anna Sewell\'s Black Beauty and John Steinbeck\'s The Red Pony. He also wrote and illustrated a few books of his own.
About the Author:
Marguerite Henry (1902–1997) was an American writer of children\'s books. Her 59 books based on true stories of horses and other animals captivated entire generations. She won the annual Newbery Medal for one of her books about horses and she was a runner-up for two others.
