Please notice this is a quilt TOP: it is NOT a finished quilt or bedspread, as there is no batting or backing beneath the pieced fabrics shown in the photos.
This old quilt top measures approximately 91\' by 79\" across, so we believe it might be wide enough for a queen size quilt. The bed is a queen, 80\" by 60\".
The red fabric we are almost certain is the old Turkey red cotton, and the off-white fabric is also very old and a bit rough on the surface. We believe this is a truly antique piece that has survived many years in a slightly damaged condition, no serious flaws.
The Turkey red and white quilts are one of the most desirable among collectors, as is is well known. One of the better known collections was exhibited a few years back in the American Fold Art Museum of New York, and a book was published about it. The exhibit was entitled \"Red And White Quilts: Infinite Variety\", and that is the name of the book.
