Quaiche Antique English Sterling Silver Naval Interest Hms Royal Arthur For Sale
An Edwardian silver quaiche in very good condition and clearly hallmarked for London 1904. It is made of a good gauge of silver and retains its original shape. The attractively pierced handle is firmly fixed. The hallmarks for London 1904 are clearly struck but the makers mark is partially rubbed. It stands on a slightly raised base and is of baluster form. This silver quaiche was presented to CPO P J Hale by the Captain, Officers and Ship's Company of HMS Royal Arthur. This ship had been built in the 1880's and in 1901 was the escort ship for the future George V and Queen Mary to Australia for the opening of Parliament. In 1904 it was decommissioned and this quaiche was clearly a gift from the Captain and crew to their Chief Petty Officer. P J Hale. Weight 1.5 ozs (43gms)
