Features on a queen-sized Bed

Very nice vintage quilt made between 1920-1945 by an unknown quilter.

I bought this quilt in Aurora, OR and have kept it in my collection for 8 years showing it at quilt shows and at trunk shows. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted with a medium stitch width and has a fluffy cotton batting. The backing fabric is a creamy white cotton muslin which shows off the quilting.

The workmanship is excellent and I like the variety of cotton print calico fabrics and the bright colors. There appears to be some feed sack print fabrics on a few of the blocks. Hard to tell as the fabrics of that era were similar to feed sacks. These fabrics are of more denser weave than most feed sacks.

I have washed it at least once and it has held up to the process. The workmanship is excellent.

Condition issues are pictured (note that a small gold safety pin indicates issues), but no large stains, no holes, no mildew, no soil, no odor, no major fading, no dye migration. There is a faint boxing stain all along the back of the quilt where it was stored in a wooden trunk or box, which I have pictured. Also on the back is a tiny spot stain. The front has some loose stitches in the black embroidery thread and around the center of the daisys. There is one small faded spot on the pick border where something was spilled. It is pictured.

It has been stored on shelves in my pet-free, smoke-free sewing studio when I am not showing it

This quilt is a very nice example of a 20th-century appliqued scrap quilt.

It is a sweet quilt and has been cherished over the years, but there is still much cherishing to do. It would work well on a bed, draped or displayed on a rack, or folded in a glass-front cabinet.
