A super advertising Toledo piece!Here\'s also what we do know:2 7/8\" H X 1 1/2\" WPLATING IS ALL THERE. APOLOGIES FOR THE PINK OR RED TINT AT THE BOTTOM IN TWO OF THE PHOTOS. IT\'S MY RED SHIRT REFLECTION.All engraving is strong & not worn. Very legible. SEE PHOTOS.MARKS: None other foundBOTTOM STRIKERDENTS:One less than 1/2 cm on the reverse side near the bottom. Condition:Hinge is not loose. Closes & snaps tightly. Hinge pin is bent. WE BELIEVE THIS CAUSES THE BACK OF THE LID TO NOT SHUT COMPLETELY. IT DOES COME TOGETHER IN THE FRONT. AGAIN, SEE PHOTOS. Let me interject here:WEDO NOT CLEAN ANY MATCH CASES/SAFES WE SELL. WE HAVE INHERITED THESE ITEMS & DON\'T WANT TO HARM THEM BY CLEANING THEM BECAUSE WE ARE WORRIED WE WOULDN\'T CLEAN THEM PROPERLY, DAMAGING THEM FURTHER.

How we came to have this item: Myparentswere antique collectors & dealers for over 40 years.Throughout that time they bought out several entire estates back in the 1970s. This comes from a Fostoria, Ohio woman\'s estate. She had over 300 pocket match safes, over 200 wall pocket match safes, 200+ oil lamps, etc. It was a huge estate; so large that it kept my parents selling for years & we still have many items we\'ve saved. We can\'t certify it, but I\'ve spoken to people from the area just to make sure my memory served me right, & they have confirmed it. The woman\'s name was Gladys Harrison & she was reported to be a girlfriend of Al Capone\'s. She lived in a huge home on Main St. in Fostoria & the locals know the story. She had a hideaway tunnel in the basement to hide him when he\'d flee the feds in Chicago. I saw it as a young teen when we went to look over the inventory. Gladys was a single woman with an office secretary\'s job & lived an opulent life for her salary. I think he bought her whatever she wanted. She had many things from the Ohio area & lots of items from Chicago. My parents bought her estate from her brother & sister-in-law. My dad loved the match safes especially, so he put them in a cabinet & they\'ve been there ever since. He\'s been gone for over 11 years now & mom 8 years, & although we appreciate them, we don\'t collect them, or have a need for so many, so it\'s time to pass them on to someone who appreciates them.
