RARE 11 Antique 1875 Wood & Hughes American Sterling Silver Forks circa 643 gr.:

This sale is for a rare lot of Antique AmericanSolid Silver Forks made by the Silversmiths of WOOD & HUGHES (New York 1846 to 1899).

The forks, which measure a little over 7 1/2 inches in length, with a combined weight of 643 grams, are in very good condition; however, two of the forks have had a right side tine replaced and most oddly the replacement tine was not of solid silver but rather silver plate which is now showing signs of silver plate loss (please see photo with close-up of the tines of two forks) also please note that although the photos only show 10 forks, I found an additional fork - there are 11 forks in total.

I have tried to identify the pattern, but the best I can say is that it is very much like the Wood & Hughes Olive pattern, but not exactly.

Iam not sure if theseforks are sterling silver or coin silver as they are not marked one way or the other and much of the early American Silver was coin silver; however, they have been properly tested and I can and do guarantee that they are of solid silver (90%pure silver or better)construction.
