This pamphlet contains information on approximately 300 North Carolina Confederate Medical Officers. For some there is full bibliographic information while others are listed only by name, rank and regiment. These pamphlets were sent out by Confederate Surgeon Thomas Wood of Wilmington to N.C. Confederate Medical Officers so that they might review and add to the information contained herein. Evidently this pamphlet was not only provisional but final as there is no indication that this information was incorporated into a later publication. On the cover of this copy is a handwritten note by Wood, signed by him. In the pamphlet are corrections made by the Confederate Medical Officer to whom it was sent.
