The Alabama was a Confederate blockade runner built in Great Britain, and its outfitting by the English became a contentious issue in Anglo-American relations from the Civil War until the early 1870s. \"One of the best accounts; interesting, reliable, comprehensive, and thoughtful; contains brief biographical sketches and muster rolls\" - Nevins. Includes experiences off Newfoundland, New York, blockade-running in the Gulf of Mexico, off Jamaica, Bahia, at the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Town, off Singapore and India.
