This sale is for a very rare Firestone Gas and Service station with a lighted service island in N scale, aspictured. Made by BACHMANN sometime in the late 1960s to mid 1970\'s (I think). This model was the precursor to its Esso gas station model (which is also long-retired but not nearly as rare). If you\'re familiar with the later Esso model, you\'ll note that the width of the building as well as the scene in the office window and the \"Ladies\" and \"Men\" restroom signs are the same as for that model, but that\'s were the similarity ends. For example, the building is deeper, the window frames and bay doors are green instead of red, and the \"masonry\" walls on the side and rear are more realistically detailed with grooves. Also, there is \"glass\" in the windows here, but not in the later Esso model. I\'m not sure if the painted figure by the front door is original or if it was added later by a previous owner. What makes this piece even more special is the service island itself, which is lighted via a bulb under the roof (with foil for heat protection). The wiring runs from under the base and up through the inside of one of the support columns so that it isn\'t at all visible once installed. It looks to me from the way the wiring remains wrapped that the lighting has never been used, but I can\'t say that for certain. The red gas pump reads \"Regular\" and the white gas pump reads \"Firestone\". A station sign reading \"Firestone\" is also included (see my last photo), although the lettering is is worn away in places on both the sign and the gas pump.VERY RARE: I\'ve never had one of these before in the dozen years that I\'ve been listing N scale on and I\'m fairly sure I\'ll never have one again. Congratulations in advance to whoever wins it. I\'m if any this sounds like hype, but I almost never use the word rare and I\'m genuinely excited to have crossed paths with this little gem.

The dimensions of the main building are 3 1/8\" W x 2 1/2\" D x 1 1/8\" H. The dimension of the service island are 1 3/4 W by 1 3/8 D x 1 1/8\" H. Except where described as being new or newly-built, the items I\'m offering are gently used (still in good condition and ready to be used again).
