Age / Size: Estimated to be late 1990s / 32.75mm diameter not including the crown

Case Condition: This case needs some help from what I can see. I believe that you need a case press to apply the bezel and case back to the chassis of the watch. Both bezel and case back are loose right now. Overall case cosmetic condition is at least VERY GOOD or better

Case Metal: All stainless steel with a yellow gold plated bezel ring

Dial Condition: This ORIGINAL dial is very complicated and in at least EXCELLENT overall condition- please see the photos!!

Movement Type: Tissot Swiss Made 7 Jewels Quartz with day, date, month and MOONPHASE readout on the dial!! This is about the most complicated Swiss Quartz ebauche that was made for straight time use (non chronograph). The movement is a base caliber ETA Caliber 255 481

Working / Non-Working: This Tissot triple date moonphase complication was purchased in non running condition. The time does set smoothly and the day, date and month and moonphase all turn over as they should. The date and moonphase quick set as they should. I tried a new 371 battery cell and the watch ticked for three seconds and then stopped. I removed the 371 battery cell and tried installing it again and could not get the watch to tick any additional seconds. Either I witnessed the circuit of the movement going bad or the watch is dirty and needs a good cleaning and oiling. Either way I do not know what ails the movement. If you aim to purchase this watch and restore it then please make sure you have a parts source for any parts that typically go wrong with this ETA movement. So what’s important with this movement is that even though it does not run, it has all the hands and all of the complication features are working properly.

Extra’s: Back in the late 1990s, a few higher end Swiss watch manufacturers used this ETA 255 481 movement to create the first and probably the only (decent and reliable or only at all) Swiss Quartz triple date moonphase complication wristwatches!! This base caliber ebauche was not on the scene for a long period of time and I think the reason why was that it was very expensive! This Tissot gents triple date moonphase Quartz gents wristwatch needs some work to get the bezel and case back pressed back on but also needs some work to the movement- I could only get the movement to tick for about three seconds with a new battery. I tried another battery and tried re-installing the battery. Please do not offer on this as if you are counting on it starting up with a new battery. I already tried that. This watch will need more than that in order to run again. The important parts are: 1) the case is totally decent 2) the dial is very nice and original and 3) ALL of the complication features do function and the date and moonphase quick set as they should!! There are no bend hands here and the watch will be carefully shipped to ensure that you receive it exactly as shown. It really would be nice to get this watch running again but you’ll need to have a parts source for ETA 255 481 movements- possibly a circuit or you may get lucky and it only needs cleaning- but please source your parts before offerding. Or else the watch will make a superb parts watch for you collectors of ETA 255 481 wristwatches!! I have priced this watch to $ELL with a ROCK BOTTOM low opening offer and there is !!!
