RARE Qing Antique Chinese Porcelain Bowl ~Cranes Flowers ~Superb Old Stand:

This sale is for a lovely, heavy antique Qing Chinese hexagoal porcelain bowl or dish. Thewonderful bowl is heavily decorated with three magnificant cranes and three scenes of beautiful flowers on the six sides. The background color on the outside is white and the inside & bottom are turquoise in color. There is a small gold border on the top of the bowl and two small gold borders framing a larger blue border on the base of the bowl. There is an red reign mark on the underneath of the bowl that I am still researching. I am certain the bowl is at least late Qing Dynasty (1880 - 1911).
The cranes are depicted with heads turned to the side, long curved necks, the traditional red cap on their head and feathered wings spread on both sides. The cranes almost form a circle or medallian with their image on the bowl. The details on the cranes and flowers are exquisite. The colors of white, turquoise, pink, red, green, yellow and black are very soft and harmonious.
Cranes have been the most popular bird in the long history of China. They are often depicted in Chinese art and symbolize longevity.I purchased this bowl many years ago from the personal collection of a third generation Asian antique dealer and collector. The bowl was sold to me as an antique with a rare design and excellent workmanship. I have seen many bowls of this type but few with such a fine design and workmanship.
The bowl is in excellent antique condition with expected normal use. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or damage. There are a few common characteristics of porcelain (bumps on the base), wear on the gold borders and a little paint loss. The inside of the bowl is unstained and shows light crazing on close inspection. There are very minor surface scratches and rubs from normal use for more than a century.
A heavy hand carved antique Chinese wooden stand is included in the sale but is not original to the vase. Thewooden sides are deeply carved with a fancy design and open work. The stand is round and sits on four graceful feet with a raised area in the center for display. The patina is warm and smooth. I purchased thegorgeousantique stand with the crane bowl and the two pieces have been on display together in my home for more than 35 years. The stand is marked CHINA and has a painted Chinese character on the bottom. Overall, the stand is in excellent antique condition with expected wear from use. There are surface a few scratches and rub marks. The stand alone is highly collectible.
