·DESCRIPTION: We have a rare clock from The FranklinMint ca.1981… a Falling Ball “Gravity” Clock released in honor of Sir FrancisDrake. Freshly tuned up by clock maker and in good working condition and withsome minor wear & tarnish.

ü The Sir Francis Drake Falling BallClock was issued by the Royal Geographical Society in 1981, commemorating the400th anniversary of Drake's circumnavigation of the world.

ü A beautiful time piece “crafted insolid mahogany, sterling silver, and solid etched brass with a precision 8 daymovement by Thwaites and Reed of London”.

ü Reset once a week by raising the Globe.

ü It is said that “these were hand-craftedby "Special Order" & took 4-6 months for delivery.

ü Solid 1”thick board, about 30 inchlong x 5 1/2 inch wide

ü Time is read analog & around theequatorial ring.

ü Recently professionally cleaned &adjusted which included new springs. Still has10mos left on year of warrantyprovided by the local clock shop (Rochester NY).

·CONDITION:Good Condition!Works Great! Looks Great! Only minor wear, some minor lacquer loss &light tarnish… a little elbow grease would make it pop! The surface of the brass ball / globehas some age-related spots of oxidation & there is one small ding in theback plate (about 4:30 when looking at the Sir Francis Drake portrait)
