A rare15 inch Danforth charger

I\'d call this primitive condition - maybe shabby chic - but I say nice because it is so rare

Jacobs Guide to American Pewter (somewhat the bible reference for American pewter0 says that the mark on this plate (number 106 as shown on page 71) deserves a premium price of 15 percent due to rarity.

Also, Jacobs does not list a 15 inch dish plate charger etc for any Danforth!

Further, Jacobs only shows a 15 inch for 5 or 6 other makers in his entire book.

lastly, I\'ve followed pewter on for several decades now and have recorded prices for rare American pieces - I have not seen even one 15 inch American charger listed

(of course I have not seen every single thing ever listed, I do take vacations :), but I do searches regularly.

This item has a dark patina - some looks like it was cleaned off

a good touch mark - meaning you can clearly identify it as mark 106 - but as often, the strike itself is not complete when made and there may be some wear and also some oxidation on parts

I see one pinhole - see pic

looks to have had tinker repairs to pinholesin the past - not unusual as pewter was well used - they are done nicely - still, this can use a good cleaning to even out the look

Would benefit from someone who knows how to do better conservation

So look it over and know what it is that you buy - a far from perfect rare item - starting priced low to reflect condition

So please look at the pics - this is not the piece if you want mint - get it if you like the primitive look or a rage 15 inch American piece
