Thanks for stopping by. This is a very rare African Chokwe Mask that was used in the initiation of a young boy becoming a man. We took this mask to two different African dealers and both of them put this mask in the $300,000.00 range or higher. It was collected by Aunt Paula Swarm. She was the very first white woman that went on a safari in 1908 in Africa. Her husband was Mr. Swarm and he owned several oil wells. We have pictures that she took of some of the tribes men. This initiation mask was a gift from the tribe to her plus several other pieces. We\'re posting a very high price but at Sotheby\'s sale it could bring perhaps twice as much or more. Some of these masks are so hard to come by and some are bringing over a million dollars. This mask measures 11 inches high and 7 1/2 inches wide. It has a crack at the bottom of the mask.
