A Very Rare and most Unusual Antique Large Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Cobra Snake Watch Holder.
Highly detailed the Snake is poised to pounce with his neck outstretched in a striking pose.
On the snakes lip is a Hook to hold a Pocket Watch (I will include the watch shown, free of charge to the winning buyer, sadly the watch does not work but displays the watch stand well)
The Snake is the Actual Size of a King Cobra and looks just like the real thing!
A very heavy item (over 2 kg.) it has a Lead infill applied at the point of casting to add stability and avoid it toppling over.
Condition is good for age (circa 1880-1920) with paint loss where it has been picked up and handled, as you would expect from a period, functional item in daily use.
This Snake is particularly Rare and such an unusual subject for cold painted bronze. I have never seen another - Totally Charming!
Size: 9.25\" high x 7\" deep x 4.75\" wide.
