RARE Antique 1891 Garment Drafting Machine w/orig box & book, Patterns, Sewing:

This \"machine\" is in its original box & includes the complete set of adjustable brass pattern makers, instruction book & \"perfection taylor sleeve rule\".

My mother, who taught sewing & tayloring for 35 years, was also an avid collector of all things \"sewing\". This is a recently found item from her vast collection.

This was invented & patented by A. McDowell of the McDowell Garment Machine Company of New York in 1891. It was being used from 1879 before being patented.

The brass could use some cleaning but I do not mess with old stuff as I don\'t know what I\'m doing & prefer not to unknowingly ruin things. I leave cleaning & fixing to those who do know what they are doing.

The instruction book has the lower corner ripped off (see picture) but the rest of it is in very good condition. The instructions for the fashions of the day include: polonaise, ulster, French Basque, dolman sleeve (pattern included), gored skirt, train skirt, cross skirt & more.

The box is made of wood & pressed paper. It is not in the best of condition but not bad for being over 120 years old. Box measures 21\" x 13\".
