RARE Kossu Kesi Woven Skirt
One of a kind Work of Art!
This is the best embroideries I have ever seen! GORGEOUS AMAZING and FABULOUS
Antique Chinese Qing Ching Dynasty late 19th century Summer Kossu Kesi Skirt Pure Silk.
Made for a Noble Woman2 Matching Panels each in excellent condition. The colors are ELECTRIC! Super Bright Purples, Indigo Blues, Apple Greens, Fushia pinks. on a Saffron Pumpkin Orange background The embroidery is Incredible! Super crisp embroidery of a garden scene with beautiful Bats (bats are a sign for good luck) with big flouncy Peonies Masterfully embroidered and a PERFECT work of art!
Absolutely Exquisite Embroidery done by a true Master! The fabric is a Summer Kossu--meaning you can see a pattern woven into the fabric itself (picture 12). It is a light and stiff-ish fabric similar to a crisp linen but it is SILK. It is outlined in brilliant electric Indigo Blue embroidery also in excellent condition. The precision pleats also have the embroider as well as a hidden embroidery of a flower and leaves in between the pleats! (picture 3)The Center embroideries are Rare Museum Quality Pieces--They are the best embroidery I have seen on any skirt! The waist band is a smooth soft cotton in sturdy excellent condition with a few spots and to small holes (picture 2)CONDITION: Fabric is in overall excellent antique condition with some issues since it has been previously worn and is over 140+ years old!
The bottom black band has frayed from the hem of the skirt and needs to be reattached in some areas (pictures 1, 2, 11)
the black ribbon that outlines the skirt has frayed 1, 2, 11
There are some soiled spots as seen in pictures 1, 2, and 12
there are to fray tears as shown (picture 12)
there is a are 3 holes on the inside panel when it is wrapped (picture 12)
