RARE Antique German Large 11.5\" Vigee Lebrun Boudoir Half Doll Pin Cushion:

This is an exceptionally rare antique half-doll inspired by a self-portrait of a 18-19th century French court artist Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun. A version of this doll is featured on p. 459 of \"The Collector\'s Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls\" by Marion & Werner.
The porcelain doll is nude wearing a hat and is about 5.5\" H (the finished doll stands about 11 1/2\" tall). PLEASE NOTE that the doll does have damage: there are some petal pieces missing from the two flowers she holds in her hands, as well as there was a broken off flower/flowers and a plume on her hat. There is also a sliver missing from the underside of her hat - I did my best to show all of those areas in the pictures.
The damage to the hat is completely camouFlaged by silk flowers, lace, and real ostrich feathers glued on to it. It looks gorgeous!
The doll is unmarked, but by the amount of detail in the mold and the painting, you know this was a highly artistic piece. This mold itself is extremely rare.
The doll has a sturdy construction with an inner core. At the same time, it can be used as a true pin cushion, if desired. I dressed this doll in an all silk outfit with a top fashioned from a 1920\'s blouse netting and ribbon. The iridescent blue/magenta taffeta silk skirt is trimmed with a richly embroidered vintage ribbon. I initialed the bottom - this is a one-of-a-kind hand made piece!
She is a real show stopper!
