RARE Antique Japanese 1937 KI-15 KAMIKAZE EURASIAN FLIGHT COMMEMORATION ASHTRAY:

Item description: You are offerding on an antique Japanese commemorative ashtray, decorated with a plane flying over the Eurasian continent. This is to commemorate the Kamikaze (same characters as the later suicide planes) - it\'s the name of the plane that was used to make the flight. From Tokyo it made stops in Taipei, Hanoi, Yangon, Calcutta, Karachi, Basra, Baghdad, Athens, Rome, Paris, and ending in London. The words on the ashtray are \"Eurasian Record Flight Completion Commemoration\" and under the map \"15000 kilometers, time taken 94 hours 17 minutes 56 seconds\". This was the first trans Eurasian flight to have taken less than 100 hours total, and was therefore a record breaking flight. It was sponsored by the Asahi newspaper. It signified Japanese improvement in aircraft design and the pilot, Masaaki Iinuma, was hailed as a hero. He died in WW2 as a pilot in Cambodia.Condition:One chip of the ashtray\'s mouth - maybe deliberate to make a useable notch for resting the cigarette? And a crack extending from the rim from around Paris on the map.
