Antique Japanese Doll -KANNON KOKESHI-
work by Master Craftsman \"Zenji Sato\" FEET MARK #253STUNNING!!!! A VERY RARE AND ONE OF A KIND!!
A real find for the enthusiast!!
This is the item which it is hard to obtain in Japan!!This is a precious work of \"Zenji Sato\" of master craftsman Tsugaru Kokeshi!!
The kokeshi drawn with the sumi (India ink) of this \"Zenji model\" is called \"Kannon kokeshi\"!!
This is Japanese old kokeshi doll and made in Japan.
Tsugaru traditional Kokeshi -Nuruyu Kokeshi-\"Nuruyu Kokeshi\" is torso and head are made from one tree.
This style has painted Ainu patterns, Daruma, the Botan flower of Family crest of Nuruyu.
The hairstyle is okappa.
Nuruyu kokeshis are very popular among collectors and since there aren\'t as many craftsmen as Naruko or Togatta craftsmen, sometimes it\'s hard to come by.
\"Kannon(Guanyin)\" is the bodhisattva associated with compassion as venerated by East Asian Buddhists, usually as a female.This kokeshi has \"feet\" at the bottom. It is said that Zenji felt sorry for kokeshi since it doesn\'t have arms or legs and started drawing feet at the bottom.
\"Zenji Sato\" was born in 1925.
He is a master craftsman of Tsugaru Kokeshi, And taught many disciples.
His grand master is \"Hidetaro Mori\". There is the signature of the author at the bottom of the kokeshi doll.
\"Nuruyu\", \"Zenji\".At the top of the head are small stains. But otherwise it\'s in very excellent condition.
