This is an awesome big old German Handgathered Single Pontil "Leighton" Style Transitional Marble. It has a fantastic "9" pattern with a great Horizontal swirl wrapped around the marble...attractive opaque white on a transparent blue base with a generous amount of sunken egg yolk yellow below the surface (see pics). The single pontil is ground and faceted. The marble fluoresces under a black light.

It measures approx 1 17/32" (1.527") and has some little nicks/fleabites, minor surface wear and as made marks including a big "air pop". Click to view super sized pics for a better idea of condition.

This is a one-of-a-kind "Killer" Transitional!

The early Leighton style marbles are extremely difficult to find and this beauty is in remarkable shape for its size and age. I doubt if you will ever come across another that even comes close in offering the size, colors and pattern of this historical piece!
