In the 19th century these were common, used by soldiers, railroad men, anyone who needed a flashlight. This lamp actually works and it throws a decent beam of light. Original they were fueled by whale oil, mineral oil, vegetable oil. I used a 50/50 mixture of purified lamp oil and mineral oil.

the burner unit is removable for refilling. The screw in part is reproduction. The original was missing so a nice, tight reproduction burner piece was acquired.

This lamp is in great condition and a nice addition for any collection or display. It can also be used for reenacting etc.

It will be shipped devoid of any burner fluid.
