RARE Calling of the Apostles (LA CHIAMATA DEGLI APOSTOLI) SAINT PETER 130 gram 2-1/4 inch Antiqued Silver Medal (Franklin Mint, 1972) This sale is for a very rare and vintage, limited edition, solid sterling silver medal minted by the Franklin Mint over 40 years ago, part of the set known as The Calling of the Apostles (LA CHIAMATA DEGLI APOSTOLI) Medals Collection, one of 12 medals in that set. This series of twelve dramatic sculptures depicts each Apostle as he answered the summons of Christ. Each work of art is struck in dramatic high relief on a massive planchet of solid sterling silver, measuring 2-1/4 inches in diameter.Minted by the Franklin Mint exclusively for Members of The Franklin Mint Collectors Society, each medal is individually toned (antiqued) by hand to bring out the full beauty of sculptor Guerrino Mattia Monassi\'s deep medallic images.
