Rare Winter Time Trio

Thisamazing and very collectable trio has the hand paintedWinter Time pattern and features several red breasted robins in a winter snow covered scene.
The design and artwork is attributed to reknowned artist Charlotte Rhead and appears to be a genuine and original set, although not signed by her. Autheticating some vintage china can be difficult, as back stamps can differ due to the time frame an item is produced, especially if a pattern is popular and reproduced over a long time frame.
This particular set was produced at Crown Pottery in Burslem, Staffordshire as part of the Bursley Ware range.I am not sure if itwas the intention to have the tea plate coloured blue, but it certainly makes for a very vibrant trio... The detail is lovely and you can see the brush strokes quite clearly. The cup, saucer and plate allhave an octagonal shape,with the cup interior a pearly lustre finish in yellow.
It is in overall excellentvintage condition for age. No chips, cracks or crazing. There is some obvious wear to the orange centre of the saucer, but one can live with that I think... The cup interior has a couple of teeny dark spots, but nothing to really spoil the set. The hand painted pattern and colours arestill nice and bright and seemingly intact.

Additional info:During the art deco period many members of the Rhead family were involved in pottery production and decorative activities, most notably her father Frederick, also a potter,who encouraged Charlotte in her artistic career.
Charlotte’s designs were not always signed and backstamp accuracy is sometimes difficult as potters/artists moved from one company to another (usually affiliated) pottery. Charlottewas actively creative inBurslem at the timethis trio was produced.I recommend further research and the Bernard Bumpusbook Collecting Rhead Pottery.
