This is truly a collector piece of museum quality. It was a \"Special Order”from the Shah of Iran to a general in the Turkish Army as thanks fortheir cooperation with the Iranian Army. It was signed as a tokenof his thanks, which states, \"A special order to Sarafian Iran Isfahan\"(Sarafian isequivalentto the Tiffany of rugs)Made by “Sarafian,” All over pattern.By our accounts, I would estimate this rug has approximately a 1200 KPSI. We do not normally measure in KPSI any longer as a practice as it is sometimes difficult to judge, especially on a carpet with a silk foundation as fine as this one. You will not find a carpet with as fine a quality KPSI as this museum quality rug. Regarding the loss of fringe...Some where along the way an owner was perhaps careless with a vacuum or overuse on the floor? The pile remains in tact and perfect, only the fringe is lost. Most collectors do not want any repairs done on a collectable rug such as this, so we chose to leave it as is. We have an extremely skilled team of repairman, and we could easily repair this. It would be up to the buyer. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Full restoration services are provided by histeam of expert craftsmen

for reweaving, restoration,repair, cleaning, fringes and bonding and appraisals.
