Up for sale is a very earlyand rare, Staffordshire,cream-ware, soft-paste, black transfer-ware, wedding or marriage, cup or mug. It has a great scene that depicts a man and wife and the vows and virtues of marriage and reads as follows; \" Firm as an oak, sobriety, domestic comfort, industry freedom. health wealth plenty wisdom, be thou faithful unto death.\"It has a wonderful applied handle and dates somewhere between1820s to 1850s. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks, or crazing. Two very small rough spots on the rim are the only condition issues. It measures 2 1/2\" tall x 2 5/8\" dia. at the rim x 3 1/4\" with the handle. The cup is a rare one, especially considering its age and condition and is a must for any serious collector.
