Mr. Burgess was editor and publisher of the Harrington Journal for many years. (We found him listed in directories of American newspapers as early as 1920).
Following is an excerpt from the author\'s foreword: .... I have perpetrated these \"poems\" -- I have set the type, have made up the forms, have printed and bound this priceless volume. This booklet was printed in my little country newspaper office. Norman Burton is irresponsible for the three lurid cartoons. Otherwise, this is an inside job. I\'ve mixed my own metaphors and split my own infinitives. If odium, if stygma, must attach, I alone am to blame. I had no accomplices....
