$25.00

VERY RARE....A true collector piece!!!! 50 inches by 20-1/2 inches photo. Kodak Colorama Huge 50\" Photo Baby Bathing, Taking a Bath. The image is very sharp and clear. My light table makes it look a little blotchy .... it is NOT blotchy. Image is in excellent condition, colors are bright & vivid. This once was displayed in a Kodak Dealership as advertisement promoting Kodak products.Kodak Colorama Huge 50\" Photo Baby Bathing, Taking a Bath. The images are much, much sharper and clearer in real life.
We offer a 30 day return and will pay for the return shipping on this one item, if not as nice as described. This is huge photograph is on a large sheet of Ektacolor film. The photo is 50 inches by 20-1/2 inches. Much too large for my light table so I took photos of it in sections. The photo is like a large Transparency or slide and is backlit in order to view it. These are made from the very large ones that once hung in Grand Central Station, in New York City. They were 60 feet by 18 feet. Smaller ones were made, 50 inches by 20-1/2 inches to send to Kodak Dealerships to display in their stores as a form of advertisement. A lot were taken by Photographers that became famous later in life, Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter. Actually some of the models in these Coloramas went on to become known Actors & Models.
Most of these Coloramas were made in the 1950s and 1960s.Not many of these are left. After a certain period of display they were taken down and disposed of. The Coloramas I am offering for sale have been in complete darkness in their original mailing tubes... no fading of colors. Mailing date on the original mailing tube is 1962.
Some of the white spots in the photos is just light reflection.
It used to be that if you wanted to see the world’s largest photograph, all you had to do was take a train to Grand Central Terminal. For 40 years starting in 1950, the concourse’s east balcony, where the Apple store is today, held a backlit display of an immense color slide advertising Eastman Kodak. Called the Colorama, it was a transparency 60 feet long and 18 feet high, assembled out of huge sheets of Ektacolor film, a bravura piece of analog technology. The images themselves were, of course, impossibly perfect Kodak moments: a stylish family in a convertible cruising on a Texas highway, a lineup of happy babies on a blanket, a cool swimming pool on a hot day. There may have been a slight bias in favor of New York State scenes. (After all, Grand Central’s trains ran straight up to Rochester, Kodak’s hometown. This except is from a story that appeared in the July 30, 2012 issue of New York Magazine. Please see photos for more details & condition.Thank you for looking. We really appreciate the visit.Shipping will include Insurance & tracking.
