Snider Clocks were manufactured in Canada and are some of the most
coveted of mid century time pieces. Snider designs were always extremely
stylish and totally contemporary with the fifties. Ironically, the super stylized
designs which made them popular when new, doomed them to replacement
when styles changed. Now finding a mid century Snider clock is extremely
difficult. We\'ve only seen a handful come to the market over the past decade
and nothing quite like this one! Teak wood in a spoke like pattern
with art deco style numbers - still clearly visible! Even the color scheme
of red/gold numbers on brown is in tune with the Art Deco period! This is interesting because this clock seems to pre-date the George Nelson Ball clock
by several years, a clock which became iconic and wildly successful
in America. Did George Nelson see this Snider
wall clock and get inspired? You decide! George Nelson claims
he never designed the Ball Clock but found the sketch on a napkin after
a night of drinking with Isamu Noguchi and Buckminster Fuller:\"I don\'t know to this day who cooked it up. I know it wasn\'t me.\" An absolutely incredible find
and a piece of 50s design history!
