TEETH THIS SIZE ARE BECOMING QUITE RARE...ESPECIALLY WITH VERY LITTLE RESTORATION ( APPEARS TO HAVE A HAIRLINE CRACK RUNNING ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TOOTH, MAY HAVE BEEN GLUED, HARD TO SAY ,SEEMS NICE AND SOLID ) AND GOOD ENAMEL. THIS HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY STABILIZED WITH RENAISSANCE/MUSEUM GRADE WAX. IT IS USED TO HELP STOP ENAMEL LOSS DUE TO HUMIDITY, AND LACK OF IT, IT SOME CIRCUMSTANCES. THE ENTIRE PIECE IS 2 INCHES (51MM)... IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO SAY EXACTLY WERE THE TOOTH ENDS AND MATRIX STARTS ON THIS ONE. THE ACTUAL TOOTH IS A HAIR UNDER 1 AND 3/4 INCHES. The finding of the first Mosasaur remains in the Netherlands about 1780 (Mosasaurus hoffmanni) predates the discovery of dinosaurs by more than fifty years, yet they have been frequently ignored in the media and text books on paleontology. The matrix is phosphoric limestone from the Sahara Desert in the Oulad Abdoun Basin near the Khouribga phosphate plateau region of Morrocco, North Africa. This massive marine predator went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago, along with the dinosaurs.
