A thousand pardons for cancelling the sale on some of this track before. I kind of got my cart before the horse, so to speak. I didn\'t take the time to try to figure out what could possibly be made with this track before posting, so I was just going to piece-meal it, thinking that anyone interested could buy whatever they wanted, right? I appreciate the input I\'ve gotten from a couple different train enthusiasts. I have to say, once I took the time and put all the pieces together, it became more obvious that it should be kept together as suggested. I actually measured my pool room to see how it would fit. :) I imagined it looking like a big mountain, with three levels of track. Virginia City or Lake Tahoe at the top. What would your layout look like? This would be awesome in a hotel or restaurant or bar if you had the room. Awesome anywhere, really.......it\'s very old expensive track, originally sold in limited quantities, and most of it\'s been rusted away by now (except this). This sale is for the Boucher Standard Gauge track layout shown in the first photo. It includes one crossover track, two 50\" dia. switches, two 80\" dia. switches, 9 pieces of straight track, 22 pieces of wide radius track(80\" diameter), and 18 pieces of 50\" diameter track. The track is a collection of pieces. Most have the Boucher stamp from when they were on Madison Avenue, four or five have a stamp from Lafayette St, and on some I don\'t see any stamp mark. It could be hidden under years of dust and dirt, I don\'t know. I haven\'t made any attempt to clean the track, except for shining up the tops of the rails, and the pins. I also soldered the transformer connections back onto the track in three places to make it functional (see photo). The track layout shown was tested and everything worked fine, except the switches were problematic. One needs a screw moved over so the switch pulls the track completely over, which should be an easy thing to do. All of them need work on the contact points. Also, one switch is split down the middle of the wood. It\'s not split completely apart, and still seems to work OK, but should be glued back together so it doesn\'t get worse. This is shown in a photo. The metal on the track is lightly rusted in places. I didn\'t see any spots where the rust had eaten all the way through. There are enough pins to form the layout shown. The crossover piece has no pins. Most of the pins are original, I only saw two or three homemade nail pins. One straight board has a gouge in the middle of it. Probably a kid got mad about something. So anyways, I think I described it as best I can.
There is no guarantee with this track, other than it will arrive in the condition it\'s posted in. I can\'t guarantee the switches, but since it\'s a hand-made object to start with, I\'m not sure why they couldn\'t be made to work. But I\'m not an expert, so please understand that. In addition, wide radius track (80\" diameter circles) was sold separately and packed with the premium sets that were pulled by the large 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive.Boucher purchased Voltamp and then started selling trains. They were the high-end manufacturersback in the day. Hand-made track that looked realistic was much more expensive than the pressed steel counterparts of Lionel and American Flyer and other competitors.
