VERY RARE ARTS & CRAFTS COLLECTIBLE - PAIR OF EARLY PERIOD SIGNED ROYCROFT BOOK ENDS CIRCA 1906 - 1910

Up for yourconsideration is this beautiful matching pair of Roycroft early period book ends. I\'m not an expert but these appear to be constructed of copper with some sort of brass wash overcoat. They have a great contrasting patina that highlight their age and character. Each has taken on a patina distinct from the other but I believe them to be a true matching pair. The original felt on the bottoms is still intact although beginning to come lose on some edges. There are no dents or noticeable scratches or scuffing to speak of. I have no history or knowledge on these. I purchased these at a thrift shop years ago so they are being sold as is, as found.

I have done a great deal of research on these and have not been able to find another pair of these anywhere on the net. These each have the early Roycroft mark so these could indeed be very rare. The design on these have a very harmonious hand hammered sail with a bracket with curled ends running down the center. The construction consists of three pieces on each book end. The bracket is riveted to the \"sail\" at the top and then riveted to a base to complete the book end. There are four rivets affixing the body to the base and on one book end, one of these rivets has detached but is still in place. Dimensions on each of these is 6 inches wide by 4.25 inches high.
