One of these was dug in Victor, Colorado and was listed on 5-26-2011. This 25 mm brass octagontoken was not dug, and grades in XF condition as purchased in 1987.

The Jan 8th and 9th Cripple Creek Morning Timesreport that charges were being brought for “complicity in the Placer Saloonrobberya few nights ago whereby a Saloon keeper..”.

The Monday Jan 10, 1898 Salt Lake Herald (UT) carriedsome news from Colorado: “Two masked men held up the owners, bartender and onepatron of the Shaffman Saloon Friday in West Cripple Creek, at a late hour atnight, and robbed the money drawer of $75 in cash, a gold watch, and a diamondring”. Note that Cripple Creek is only 5crooked road miles NW of Victor (in Teller County).

The Jan 12, 1898 Leadville Herald Democrat mentionthe Shaffman Saloon in Cripple Creek.

By 1900 Shaffman must have left Cripple Creek. The 1900 Cripple Creek District Directory(all cities and towns of Teller Co.) lists the “Placer Saloon, A. Hendrickson,Proprietor, at 220 N. B” Street. Shaffmanis not listed in this directory or in a 1900 Dun.
