\"The Square Book of Animals\" published in 1900, is very rare today. Currently there are two online listings for the book, $1,2000 and $1,500. However, this plate and others were acquired disbound (9 of 12 plates), several years ago. I had them all custom framed. I sold a few and others were given away as gifts. I kept four designs for my self and they are now listed for sale. This listing is for the\"The Servile Cow\"and I also have the \"The Growing Colt\", \"The Learned Pig\" and \"The Cock of the North\" currently listed for sale on . Given the high value of the book, because of its rarity and the high regard for the artist today, this plate (the backsides are blank) alone could each reasonably sell for $50.00 or more by itself, in fine condition, without faults, such as this custom framed specimen.
Sir William Nicholson, artist and illustrator, who famously partnered with James Pryde and produced several classic posters under the name \"The Beggarstaff Brothers\". These charming illustrations from a book for children have been framed with the child/adult in mind, with a polka-dot style wood frame. The matting is a neutral pale yellow. Because the prints are square, the frame is also. The frame is in excellent condition, some light wear evident on the backside.
Sir William Newzam Prior Nicholson(5 February 1872 – 16 May 1949) was an English painter of still-life, landscape and portraits, also known for his work as a wood-engraver,illustrator, author ofchildren\'s booksand designer for the theatre.
